Photographer: Jonathan Andrew

These are something I've been meaning to post for a while now, a quick draft made but never published.

I was first attracted to the photography of Jonathan Andrew's photography when stumbling across his WW2 Bunker series on one of my random web wanderings, but soon found that his other work was equally as admirable.

There's something about the way he uses, interprets, or manipulates light in his compositions that draws me in, none so more than the his landscape photography. Here a selection of my favourites.

Photographer: Matthias Heiderich

I've wanted to post something about Matthias Heiderich for a while now, ever since I saw his work in Grafik Magazine a few months back.

I'm not quite sure what it is about this German photographer's work but it really appeals to me; in particular his "Studie Zwei" & "Funktionsorte" series

Perhaps its his concise compositions of colour, texture and shape combined with the ability to create something interesting out of the mundane and the everyday; then again it could be the minimal, modern, urban subject matter.

More can be found on his website: matthias-heiderich.de so you can make up your own minds.

Finished by Hand... The Leica Lense

Fascinating to watch & the cynic in me was slightly surprised that something like this was still heavily produced by hand! One of these is defiantly on my wish list.

Nicholas Cobb - The Office Park

© Nicholas Cobb

As ever I never find things by actively searching for them, I seem to stumble across the items I post, purely by chance, like this book, "The Office Park" by Nicholas Cobb

This book of Cobb’s photography captures the everyday humdrum events and lives of city dwellers, with scenes taken form an elaborately created set models populated with figurines.

With precise compositions, close framing and using cleaver depth of field, Cobb brings these models alive creating movement and and incredibly realistic atmosphere.

In a world where tilt-shift photography is becoming increasingly fashionable (and easy to fake) these images are marvellously refreshing and captivating turning that trend on it's head.

Hengki Koentjoro

© Hengki Koentjoro

Just Came across these stunning photographs by Hengki Koentjoro on Feature Shoot whilst on one of my wandering journeys around the web and instantly felt like I needed to hang one on my wall.

These are the kind of photographs I aspire to take, a dream which I'm working on. There is so much atmosphere, depth and realism in these photographs, something I can never seem to capture in my own shots.

I know my place so I'll leave this kind of thing to the experts.

Laurent Nivalle: Le Mans Classic 2010

© Laurent Nivalle 2010

I'm not really a massive fan of motorsport, much to my friends discust, but I can really see the attraction when the sport is so brilliantly photographed. I found these by Laurent Nivalle whilst wandering the pages of Grain Edit and instantly felt connected to his compositions from the The Le Mans Classic.

Though shot in 2010 these pictures have a retrospective, timeless quality, with the depth of field making them almost seem like a mini dioramas, drawing you in to hear every revving engine and inhale the petrol fumed atmosphere

Over all this, what they do best is to capture the idolised sprit, alure and glamour of this classic race.

Tim Simmons Photography

Just been wondering around ffffound and came across the work of Norfolk photographer Tim Simmons

I really like the way he uses strong artificial lighting to create tension and atmosphere, contrasting against the calm peaceful natural subject matter.

Take a wander over to his site, timsimmons.co.uk, to view more of his photography.

Still Films by Felix Odell

Thought I'd share these gloriously composed photographs by Felix Odell

I've seen his work before in Monocle Magazine, and I have been inspired to find out more after seeing some of his shots of a brewery on thisiscollate.com.

There is something about his work that has an timeless stillness and the compositions draw you into the ghostly scene. You can tell that he treats his subject matter with care and respect, telling their story with out a hint of activity.

Went a bit overboard on the image uploads but I think they need to be seen
