Nicholas Cobb - The Office Park

© Nicholas Cobb

As ever I never find things by actively searching for them, I seem to stumble across the items I post, purely by chance, like this book, "The Office Park" by Nicholas Cobb

This book of Cobb’s photography captures the everyday humdrum events and lives of city dwellers, with scenes taken form an elaborately created set models populated with figurines.

With precise compositions, close framing and using cleaver depth of field, Cobb brings these models alive creating movement and and incredibly realistic atmosphere.

In a world where tilt-shift photography is becoming increasingly fashionable (and easy to fake) these images are marvellously refreshing and captivating turning that trend on it's head.

Real Magick in Theory and Practise

Found this a while ago on September Industry and have finally got round to putting it up.

This is something that you have to appreciate not because the 4_21 polytope is believed to be the most geometrically complex and aesthetically beautiful structure in mathematics (yawn), but because of the sheer precision which it must of taken to print this complex pattern.

Created by The Luxury of Protest the rendering was was hand drawn in Illustrator to an accuracy of 1/10,000 of a millimetre and silk screen printed by K2 Screen, London using matte black ink on GFSmith Plasma Polycoat 700 micron Glass Clear plastic, with hand-applied 23 carat rouge gold foil and 23 carat gold powder gilding resulting in something quite beautiful

If you really wish to know about the mathematics of the 4_21 polytope then please feel free to read the September Industry or The Luxury of Protest posts. Personally I think you should just site back an enjoy it!
